The Gaming Room is complete and while there was a lot of blood (yes, I cut myself a lot), sweat and tears, I’m glad we persevered and powered through! Spring 2021 One Room Challenge Week 7: Almost Complete

Only ONE WEEK to go!! If I’m honest here, I was really sweating it that I would finish since most of the past two weeks I’ve been on my own to complete everything. I would also really like my house back, it’s like the playroom and the new gaming room threw up in every room of my home and I really needs it to be put back in order again!! SOON!! On the work side of things, ie. Susan Hill Interior Design, my team would like my full attention back so I’m not obsessing over matching red oak and birch. PLUS my kiddos would really like to have the house put back together and be able to use the room.

Spring 2021 One Room Challenge Week 5: How to Install a Slat Wall

GAHHHH!!! I can’t believe the week AND the weekend sped by! We have been at the point in the renovation of the gaming room where the details take time and it seems like it has been moving slowly. BUT, that is the way it is with all good things in construction!

Last week I was honestly a little worried we would not get done with the massive amount of carpentry we had taken on. Now, if I was smart I guess I would have hired one of my crews to come in and build everything in a couple of days, but what FUN would that have been!? And it would have been pricey …… and we have the skills between John and I to pull off what I wanted to do in this room. Our friend Kenny with Interior Woods, helped immensely with the cubbies and the snack station cabinets! SUPER talented guy that one!

This past week has been SLOW, painfully slow without a lot to show. I know this next few weeks things will really progress, but a week like this is honestly a little scary! Halfway thorugh the with so much left to do! The red oak plywood from ITC Millwork, for the TV platform is arriving TODAY!! AND, the custom stain I am having mixed to match the red oak and the birch plywood should be ready today to pick up as well! WOOHOO!! Fingers crossed that they look close … I guess there is always the paint option, AM I RIGHT?

Hey there! Before I jump into sharing some fun details about our design, if you are just joining in, you can catch Week One where I shared the room we are working on and Week Two to see all of the design boards and some struggles! We actually got a lot done this past week; most of it was getting supplies, new tools and working out details, so it didn’t end up looking like we got a lot done. I don’t have a lot of photos to share this week, but we did make good progress as you can see.
