Spring 2021 One Room Challenge Week 3: Setting the Foundation for the Game Room Renovation
Hey there! Before I jump into sharing some fun details about our design, if you are just joining in, you can catch Week One where I shared the room we are working on and Week Two to see all of the design boards and some struggles! We actually got a lot done this past week; most of it was getting supplies, new tools and working out details, so it didn’t end up looking like we got a lot done. I don’t have a lot of photos to share this week, but we did make good progress as you can see.
Spring 2021 One Room Challenge Week 2: Our Game Room Design Boards and How We Built Custom Cube Storage
Gosh!! The week has flown by and while we have done a lot we have had some obstacles to overcome! The good news is, boxes have been arriving from sponsors! Such a relief to know that we may have a completed room by the reveal date! You know I would love to talk about construction and the problems I’m dealing with, but I know we all want to see the plans so I’ll show you the plans and get into the struggles a bit later! If you are just joining in, you can catch up on who I am here and Week 1 here.
Spring 2021 One Room Challenge Week 1: Transforming the Playroom into a Gaming Room
Today's the day! I'm beyond thrilled to be joining the other featured designers participating in the Spring 2021 One Room Challenge(ORC)! I was completely surprised over our winter vacation while we were in the middle of the woods with little cell reception when I found out that I had been selected as a featured designer for this Spring ORC! You know the saying: if a little jumping happens in the forest and no one is around to see it, did it really happen? There may or may not have been any jumping, only the forest creatures and my family know! If you're not familiar with the ORC, it is a six-week (eight-weeks due to Covid) event that fosters creativity and inspiration and provides a network of support, encouragement and community while participants transform a room from top to bottom. I’m hoping you’ll follow along over the next eight weeks and get some inspiration to tackle your own re-dos!
Fall 2020 One Room Challenge Weeks 6-8: Modern Updated Office Renovation Final Reveal
Well believe it or not, we actually made it through our second One Room Challenge and finished the office of my daughter’s dreams in six (seven!) weeks. Almost on time even though I didn’t have a lot of time throughout the ORC due to work projects and had to make a huge push to finish, but we are done!! My daughter has moved back in and it is much brighter, lighter and fun for her to work from that space. It’s sexy according to several people in the know; both my photographer Erin Comerford and my stylist Kendra Surface were on the sexy train and I had to agree with them!!
Fall 2020 One Room Challenge Weeks 3-5: Home Office Design Concepts and Built-Ins
If you know me, it isn’t like me not to keep up with things. Honestly, I thought I would have time to at least get work done on our ORC room and put together a quick blog post, but ……. I literally have not had time to do any work at all on the room myself until this weekend and I’ll have to share that with you next week for the final week. For now, I’m going to do a quick recap of what happened (which, believe me, wasn’t much).
Spring 2020 One Room Challenge Week 8: A Fresh, Personalized, and Creative Teen Girl Bedroom
Before we take a look at the completed room, let’s take a look back to remember what I started with! My poor kiddo had been living with a mix up of two different aesthetics; walls and curtains from her little girl room, and bedding from her pre-teen room along with nails from fairy artwork I had removed!! It’s been quite a transformation and I need a reminder of how not to drag my feet completing my own projects!
Spring 2020 One Room Challenge Weeks 5 & 6: Just Breathe
It’s Week 6 of the One Room Challenge friends and I’m working overtime to get Sophia’s bedroom completed! My nerves are a bit wracked due to some pieces being back-ordered even longer than they initially were, so …….. we will be waiting until SEPTEMBER for her desk chair to arrive and in the meantime, I’ll have to make something else work! Ugh
Spring 2020 One Room Challenge Week 4: The Halfway Point
Welcome! We’re about halfway to the finish of the Spring 2020 One Room Challenge now, sponsored by Better Homes and Gardens ! I shared the original room and design plan in Week 1, did a change up to the design plan in Week 2, and had some adventures with wallpapering the ceiling in Week 3!
Spring 2020 One Room Challenge Week 3: The Battle of the Wallpaper
Hi there! Last week was a bit challenging to get work done as we entered the third week of the One Room Challenge!! It’s my plumber with the leaky pipes story from Week One, work took a lot of my time and matching wallpaper seams on a ceiling at midnight is not really ideal. I have had technology issues as well with my laptop not cooperating so it is with my tech guru. I was able to finish the third coat of paint and start wallpapering the ceiling in Sophia’s bedroom.
Spring 2020 One Room Challenge Week 2: Wallpaper Change Up!
If you are new here, welcome!! You’ll also see that I’m new here too!! I’ve been putting blogging off for years…..I’m an interior designer, not a blogger, but the One Room Challenge was a good excuse to start. And maybe, just maybe, even though I’m far from a blogging expert, you’ll walk away with some inspiration. At least that’s my hope!
